Three Kentucky players were named pre-season All-Southeastern Conference picks by Phil Steele’s College Football this week.
Senior linebacker Avery Williamson was named to the Second Team after finishing second in the SEC and seventh in the nation in tackles last season, including a career-high 20 against Vanderbilt. Williamson, a Milan, Tenn., native had eight double-digit tackle games last season. He also had 4.5 tackles-for-loss, three sacks, four pass breakups, two fumbles caused, a fumble recovery and an interception last season.
Joining Williamson on the defensive team is Alvin “Bud” Dupree, who was named to the fourth team. The junior defensive end had 91 tackles, including 12.5 tackles for loss last season and 6.5 quarterback sacks.
Sophomore punter Landon Foster was a fourth-team special teams player after posting a 42.9 yards per punt average, which set a new UK record for a freshman punter.
