OK, I got some clarification on a couple of things from Kentucky spokesman Dewayne Peevy, who said that because of the bye week this week there is “no sense of urgency” about whether or not Coach Joker Phillips will coach the remaining two games on Kentucky’s schedule vs. Samford (Nov. 17) and at Tennessee (Nov. 24).
“The telling of the staff and the players just happened today, so it hasn’t been determined,” Peevy told the Herald-Leader. “It will probably come up tomorrow. … It just hasn’t played out. With the emotion of the decision, they decided to discuss it later.”
Peevy also said Kentucky officials are going to meet with the University’s legal office on Monday and get the final buyout numbers settled from Phillips’ contract.
Peevy said the UK assistant coaches will coach until the end of the season.
