The annual vote by the media at Southeastern Conference Media Days has a predictable finish for the Cats, who were picked fifth (just ahead of Vanderbilt) as usual.
As it did on the coaches’ pre-season team, Kentucky got three players on the All-SEC Teams. Offensive lineman Larry Warford was picked to the First Team as was linebacker Danny Trevathan. Punter Ryan Tydlacka was picked to the Third Team.
Here is the final tally (first place votes in parentheses):
EAST – South Carolina (114); Georgia (38); Florida (12); Tennessee (2); Kentucky (1); Vanderbilt
WEST – Alabama (111); LSU (30); Arkansas (23); Mississippi State (1); Auburn; Ole Miss (2)

I think 5th is optimistic. Vandy is on the rise, where else do they have to go but over UK. Without heart, which I saw zero in the bowl game, we will end up 3-9….could be 5-7 with lick and some heart.
What’s new?
The Cats will finish just ahead of Vandy like always and may even finish as poorly as 4 – 7.
Fifth, huh?
Who in the world voted Kentucky first?
I will tell all you optimistic die hard UK football fans something. Get ready to be surprised in 2011-12 because Joker has a thing or two up his sleeve. Minter will turn the “D” around and the QB position will be the real surprise with Newton being coached not only by Woodson but also by Tee Martin and Randy Sanders think of a team that has 3 QB coaches of that caliber, I know Tee is the receivers coach but you don’t think he is putting his 2 cents worth. Good “O” line and a surprise in the backfield and you naysayers are going to be going yea go big blue. The Blue may RISE is 2011. 5th my tail!!
