Kentucky sophomore cornerback Martavius Neloms will be suspended for the first half of UK’s Nov. 27 game at Tennessee after being ejected for fighting in the Cats’ 38-20 win over Vanderbilt last Saturday.
Neloms was tossed after exchanging punches with Vanderbilt’s Umoh Udoh, who was also ejected and will be suspended for the Commodores’ home game with Tennessee this weekend.
SEC spokesman Charles Bloom said NCAA rules state than an ejection for fighting carries an automatic suspension of one half. Since Neloms and Udoh were ejected in the fourth quarter, they are required to sit out the first half of the following game.
Neloms has started nine games at cornerback and ranks second on the team in tackles with 48.
